Fabric is 8 CD Giveaway Winner!!

Well Fabric turned a ripe old 8 last weekend and my what a knees up it was. I managed to get down on Saturday and all three rooms were going off… Cobblestone Jazz were on fine form with their noodley jazz come minimal techno sounds, whilst Ivan Smagghe(ad) and his Jesus antics gave room 2 a right pounding. Terry Francis and Craig Richards were doing an excellent job like they have been doing for all these years. And Ellen Allien just played the most ridiculous bass laden head fuck music I’ve ever heard. And the birthday antics didn’t stop at the door… As I type, I’m enjoying a nice glass of purple panda pop chilled to what must be minus 35 degrees with some fresh Fabric shaped ice cubes from the delightful trays they gave out. Let’s hope we can expect more of the same for years to come.

Anyways we had a competition to help celebrate 8 years of Fabric, giving you the chance to win your choice of 3 CDs from the Fabric and FabricLive back catalogue, if you answered the simple question of “Who is Fabric and Wiggle’s long time resident?” The answer was of course Terry Francis and the lucky winner is……………..:

Adam Reynolds from Leeds!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!

Adam you’ve won your three choices of:
Marco Carola Fabric 31

Ewan Pearson Fabric 35
Adam Beyer Fabric 22

They're already winging their way to you now. Lets just hope the Royal Mail arent sitting around doin nowt.

Unlucky if you didn’t win this time, but we have other competitions coming up, to win pairs of tickets to the Manchester Warehouse Project for the Cocoon night (9th Nov) and Sasha/Zabiela night (14th Dec) as well as guest mixes on the show from Sasha and James Zabiela themselves in December and Steve Bug will also be dropping us a guest mix to promote his Fabric CD. Check back here as we’ll be putting up some CD, tune and event reviews too.

Thanks

Chris

Fabric Turns 8!! So here are some free CDs!!

Who would have thought that the converted cold meat store also known as Fabric would still be here 8 years down the line, especially considering all the other flashy glamorous “super” clubs which have fallen by the wayside after the superclub bubble burst circa year 2000. It was Fabric’s dedication to the underground scene, with a diverse and distinct booking policy which saw them evolve from the outcast child to a World leader. It’s the underground vibe turned brand which has kept the meat locker thriving for the past 8 years and to celebrate their continued public service, Fabric are throwing a 3 day extravaganza of a birthday party worthy enough for the return of Jesus Christ covering everything that’s good about dance music at the moment.

Indie dance upstarts The Aliens and The Whip perform live on Thursday night alongside the eclectic stylings of Sinden and The Filthy Dukes. Whilst turntablist and DMC World Champion legends the Scratch Perverts and DJ Craze feature on Friday alongside Bond villain and allround cockney geezer Goldie and sound of now Dubstep pioneer Skream. And on Saturday the weekend festivities crescendos into a night of dark and bleepy electronic dance music with long time residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis supporting the Berlin based BPitch head honcho Ellen Allien and long time French Jesus look a like Ivan Smagghe.

Obviously with Fabric being a global brand, not everyone can come over to London to join in with the festivities. So we’re gonna help Fabric celebrate by giving you the chance to with 3 CDs from the coveted Fabric back catalogue. Answer the simple question below to win 3 Fabric or Fabric Live CDs of your choice!!

Who is Wiggle and Fabric's long time Resident DJ:

Sub Level Sessions Resumes Normal Service

Unlike the Royal Mail, the Sub Level Sessions returns this academic year to resume normal service, after a 3 month hiatus taking in the likes of Sonar Festival, Wild in the Country, Exit Festival, various Richie Hawtin gigs, a dissertation and the annual visit to the white isle. The summer has been good, apart from the dissertation writing part, that was just stressful whilst i sat inside and typed, people across the country were having fun at Nottinghill Carnival, SW4 and TDK Cross Central. But apart from that minor blip in august it has been fun.

Anyways, we leave the blustery three months of summer to go head on into another season full of errr... rain, storms, wind, cold and the possible occurrence of snow.... Not to worry! The Sub Level Sessions is back once again for its third and possibly last outing on the "ricketty but not without character" URF Radio.

Its all change this year, the once amateur side kick Luke Simpson takes charge and will now present the show. Whilst the old, tired master? (fool more likely) Chris Wan retires to the bench to supply the online community with the occasional podcast and CD/Event reviews. You can expect from this new audio/visual/textual/online/offline/radiowaved orgy of a two pronged attack the regular plethora of fine guest mixes, new tunes and regular pondering's. All ready in the pipeline is an interview and guest mix from James Murphy & Pat Mahoney, known to most as LCD Soundsystem. They're on the show to promote their newly released FabricLive 37 a disco soul funk rare groove medley which has been making me happy in my car. We've got loads of stuff coming from the Warehouse Project in Manchester such as a massive ticket giveaway to help them kick off another season of humongous rave type affairs. Guest mixes from Sasha and James Zabiela lined up already, as well as possibly one from Italian minimal techno stalwart Marco Carola!! There will be more added as the term goes on, but for now you need to know when we're on.

From the 19th October the Sub Level Sessions will be broadcast Every Friday 8-9pm. You'll be able to catch it at www.urfonline.com with listen again capabilities, or you can catch it on wireless around Brighton if you dial into 1431AM.

WAREHOUSE COMPETITION!!

Because we're super nice people at the Sub Level Sessions, we're gonna kick things off with a chance to win a pair of tickets to the "It Came From Detroit" night at the Manchester Warehouse Project on the 19th October
which plays host to some true techno legends. The alien like Jeff Mills headlines the billing and is sure to pound friday night into saturday morning. Francois K brings his deep space NYC stylings to our blustery shores as well as the old guard of techno being the Underground Resistance crew from Detroit in the form of the Interstellar Fugitives featuring Mad Mike will take you on a live detroit techno journey...

For your chance of winning a pair of tickets, answer this simple question:

Which City are Underground Resistance from?
a. New York
b. Detroit
c. Bogner Regis

Send name and answer to sublevelsessions@googlemail.com competition closes Wedsnesday 17th October.

Good Luck!!
